Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens
Go eye to eye with a Giraffe on the high level boardwalk or take a walk on the wild side to see the Lions before calling on the Anteaters, Camels, Zebras and many many more. They bring the jungle, outback, sierra and prairies to you and all in a day’s visit!
Birdland Park & Gardens
Discover an amazing world of birds and their Jurassic ancestors on your day out in the Cotswolds. Set in nine acres of gardens and woodland this creates a picturesque canopy for the winding River Windrush where you can meet over 500 birds from magical Owls, impressive Cassowary (Is it just me? I had to look it up – they’re big!) and rare species such as the Waldrapp Ibis. Flamingos, Pelicans, Cranes and Waterfowl all enjoy this riverside habitat and over 50 aviaries.
Crocodiles of the World
Come face-to-face with some of the world’s most feared predators in a fun, safe and informative environment. With under-water viewing, talks, animal encounters and feeding times throughout the day there’s plenty to keep you occupied at the UK’s only Crocodile Zoo. It’s not every day you get to see a Crocodile feeding, so make it snappy!
Wychwood Brewery & Tour
The tour experience lasts approximately 2 hours and takes you through the brewing process of Wychwood & Brakspear Beers, from seeing the raw ingredients to the finished product, taking in the Copper, Mash Tun and Brakspear’s famous Double Drop system.
After the tour you can sample the flagship Legendary Hobgoblin and the range of Wychwood and Brakspear bottled beers.
Downton Abbey Filming Locations
For any Downton fans – welcome to the Downton triangle! Between Witney, Burford and especially Bampton (a.k.a Downton itself) you have all the most important exterior locations to explore. The house itself was Highclere near Newbury, but the farm and many of the outside scenes were filmed here. There is a handy guide that you can download here:
Don’t forget to visit the fictional Dog and Duck Pub or the old Grammar School that played the Cottage Hospital.
